Individual and group defending
One player in charge of an opponent with or without the ball. Whereas group defending different sets of players are in charge of different sets of opponents preventing them from building up attack or limiting their scoring chances.
Defending is all about decreasing opponents time space or passing options. To achieve this an individual defender in any situation should have the following qualities:
� Mental
� Physical
� Tactical
Selection when challenging for the ball
- interception
- Prevent opponents from turning
- Isolate opponents
Technique
- Watch the opponent with the ball
- Watch the pass (do not let the ball be passed behind you)
- Delay opponent if necessary
